What is GarrysMod

Garry's Mod is a game modification, created by Garry Newman, and a successor to JBMod, the original sandbox Half-Life 2 modification. While GMod does not possess any actual gameplay value in a traditional sense, it enables the player to freely manipulate all of the objects and features of the Source engine except for the background features. This has allowed an extensive community to build up and create mods and mini-games within GMod. GMod can be used as a map editing tool that interfaces with Valve Software's proprietary editor Hammer to add furniture and small items through its first person interface, letting users graphically interact with their map. Garry's Mod, the first commercial iteration of the mod, has been released through Valve Software's game management platform Steam, at a cost of $9.95 USD.It was released on 29th November 2006. There is a free version: Garrys Mod 9 available for download. (This is a virus free website....I am not a fag, so none of the downloads contain viruses, if they do email me at deathspinner1992@hotmail.com)

From 3ds Max to Garrys Mod

Get the .smd plugin, install it, then export the mesh as .smd (with the textures applied). Run it through a compiler (Studiocompiler, GUIStudioMDL) and you're pretty much done.

MAX6/7 SMD Exporter 2.03

Half Life 2 MDL Decompiler

This program will decompile a Half-life2, Counter-Strike:Source, or Vampire the Masquerade:Bloodlines MDL. It creates all reference models including LOD's, dumps all animations, and will create the .qc file.

Place this executable in your .../SteamApps/sourcesdk/bin directory since it requires HL2 dll's to work
If you are missing MFC71.DLL check here http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?mfc71

This exporter is a work in progress and is only as good as my understanding of
the .qc syntax. Therefore there are sure to be lots of bugs.

Version 0.5 Released!

  1. Added flex output - mdldecompiler will now create a vta file and include the required flex commands in the .qc
  2. Added reference model support for Vampire the Masquerade:Bloodlines - no animation or flex support yet.
  3. Fixed bugs creating incorrect animations (missing leg animations, etc).
  4. Added hitbox and key values output.
